Consulytica at Jubilation in June: Taking Financial Access to the Community

Some of the most important conversations about financial access don’t happen in boardrooms or bank branches.

They happen in parks. At community events. On a Sunday afternoon in Richmond, Virginia, surrounded by music, food trucks, and thousands of neighbors who showed up to celebrate their city.

On June 29th, the Consulytica Street Team was at Jubilation in June, one of Richmond’s most beloved annual community celebrations, and it reminded us exactly why we built this organization the way we did.

About Jubilation in June

Jubilation in June is a Richmond institution. This year’s event drew over 6,000 attendees to celebrate community, culture, and connection in the heart of the city. With live music artists, food trucks, community resource organizations, and families from across the Richmond area, it’s one of the most concentrated gatherings of the communities Consulytica exists to serve.

When we saw the opportunity to be there, not as a sponsor on a banner, but as a street team on the ground having real conversations, we knew it was exactly the kind of presence Consulytica needed to build.

The Consulytica Street Team

Our entire Street Team was on scene throughout the day.

We set up at the event with one goal: meet people where they are. Not drive them to a website. Not hand them a flyer and walk away. Actually sit with them, listen to their situation, explain how Consulytica works, and help them understand that there is a financial system being built specifically for people like them.

The conversations were real. People asked hard questions. They were skeptical, and rightfully so, because a lot of organizations promise things to underserved communities and don’t deliver. We answered every question directly, showed them what the platform actually does, and let the mission speak for itself.

By the end of the day the response was clear: this community has been waiting for something like this.

Community Members Applied for the Grant On the Spot

One of the most meaningful moments of the day came when community members didn’t just ask about Consulytica, they applied for the Community Stability Grant right there at our table.

The Community Stability Grant awards up to $200 per month to Consulytica members facing genuine financial hardship. No repayment required. Ever. It opens officially on July 1st and runs every month with no end date.

But the need was already there on June 29th.

People didn’t wait. They saw an opportunity to get real help and they took it. That’s not something you can manufacture. That’s what happens when a community recognizes that something is genuinely built for them.

Why Richmond. Why This Event.

Consulytica was founded in Richmond, Virginia in 2019. Richmond isn’t just our headquarters, it’s our origin story.

The communities that showed up at Jubilation in June are the same communities that inspired this organization to exist in the first place. Families navigating financial instability. People returning from incarceration and trying to rebuild. Gig workers with no credit history. Immigrants building a new life in a new country. Young adults who’ve never been taught how the financial system works, or why it so often works against them.

These aren’t statistics to us. They’re neighbors. And Jubilation in June gave us the chance to show up for them the way a good neighbor does — in person, in community, without an agenda beyond genuine connection.
